Youth Leadership Council

The Youth Leadership Council is the organizing body of RAP’s youth-led initiative, YouthVoiceNYC. YLC selects an issue relevant to NYC youth each year and devises educational campaigns around these issues to push for concrete change for their peers.  Our first project, in 2013, was to organize New York City’s first ever Youth-Led Mayoral Debate. Right now our focus is on educational equity, with a concentration on pushing for free SAT prep for all New York City high school students.

We believe that young people have a voice that can project their strength and capabilities. By addressing issues that have been pushed under the rug, we can help minimize the struggles and disadvantages we go through every single day.  Our goal is to provide our members the knowledge and skills of self-advocacy and enable them to be the leaders of tomorrow!
