This summer, our YouthLEAP group at the Children’s Aid Society (CAS) took access to higher education to the next level! The YouthLEAPers identified the confusing college process as their focus, and created a multi-faceted community impact project to tackle the issue from different angles. This included a petition to put pressure on Mayor de Blasio to implement a universal college prep program for all NYC public school students. They surpassed their goal of 100 signatures and are still pushing to get more!

One of the CAS YouthLEAPers created “College-oply,” a new spin on Monopoly that highlights the costs associated with the college application process.
This video details their perspective on what it looks like to have strong guidance counseling!
