RAP’s Girls Empowerment Workshops seek to bring together young women to explore issues of identity, personal and community strength, womanhood and social activism. Using art, contemporary media, discussion and reflection activities, young women develop a map of their goals and plans for personal change and community leadership for a single two-hour session.
Our first workshop was held in mid-July at the Gerard Carter Community Center on Staten Island, in partnership with the Department of Youth & Community Development Cornerstone Program. It was facilitated by our summer interns Miriam Bial and Shannika Campbell.
RAP will offer the Girls Empowerment Workshops on site for any interested organizations, free of charge! If you are interested in hosting a workshop at your school or organization this summer, please contact our Director of Programs Elisa Kaplan at [email protected]
